Preparatory works for the construction of “Via ferate” on Romanija mountain

On Saturday, October 3, 2020, preparatory works for the construction of “Via ferate” on “Crvene stijene” began and about 45 km of hiking and mountaineering trails were marked and arranged, within the project “Enjoy Sarajevo – Romania Region”.

This project is implemented by the Tourist Organization “Jahorina”, with partners the City Development Agency East Sarajevo, the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Srpska and a private partner “Stanišić d.o.o.”.

The project “Enjoy Sarajevo – Romania Region” along the green path Via Dinarica of the Sarajevo-Romania Region “is implemented by EU4Business, and is financed by the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany.

The value of the entire project is 505,000 KM.

Members of three mountaineering associations PED “Romanija”, PD “Glasinac” and PD “Javorina”, as well as SED “Orlovača” worked diligently on marking the trails in groups: from Orlovača cave to Novokava cave, from Stajna mountain lodge to Novak’s cave as well as from the mountain lodge Glasinac, where in the first phase the trails were marked and two speleological objects Orlovača and Novakova pećina were connected, as mountaineering branches on three sides of the access to Novokova pećina, with a total length of about 45 km.

During this time, more experienced climbers worked on clearing the crevices in the rocks, where the route of the ferata itself was planned.

After the successful beginning of the realization of this first phase of activities, for the participants of the action, a gathering was organized in the mountain lodge Glasinac, hosted by the Tourist Organization “Jahorina”, and attended by the President of the City Assembly of East Sarajevo Miroslav Lucic, who thanked all participants and emphasized the importance of this Project for the overall tourist offer of the City of East Sarajevo.
